About

Angus researches green criminology, environmental justice and species justice/animal law and has written extensively on these subjects for over 10 years.

Angus joined the School of Social Science at Birmingham City University in October 2011 where he teaches Transnational and Corporate Crime, Theories of Rights, Criminal Investigation and Legal Processes as part of the Criminology and Criminal Justice degree programs. He also teaches research methods and is co-ordinator of an undergraduate module on crime analysis. 

Angus's research into wildlife crime and environmental justice has been presented at a number of conferences in recent years.  He is particularly interested in the use of the criminal law to deal with environmental problems and animal and wildlife crime.  Angus also researches access to justice, regulatory justice and selected aspects of civil justice reform.

Angus has a PhD in Criminality and Criminal Justice Policy from Birmingham City University. His thesis examines the current state of UK wildlife law and its enforcement, and also examines the criminality associated with wildlife crime.

Angus graduated from the University of Leicester in 1997 with a MSc in Criminal Justice.
 

Prior to joining Birmingham City University, Angus was Research Fellow in the Law School at the University of Lincoln (from February 2008 to the end of September 2011) where he researched access to justice issues and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and taught human rights and public law.

His past experience includes being an Investigator for the Commission for Local Administration in England and almost 10 years with the RSPB first as Investigations Co-ordinator (1990 to 1997) and then Legal & Data Protection Officer.
